Exclusive – Tottenham legend behind Carroll’s prolific form, says West Ham boss Allardyce

first_imgSam Allardyce has praised West Ham United striker Andy Carroll for his current fine form and believes a Tottenham Hotspur legend is behind it.The England striker has been beset by injury problems during his time at Upton Park and only managed two goals in 15 appearances last year. But the 26-year-old has now hit a purple patch in the Premier League and scored his second goal in three matches during the Hammers’ 3-0 victory over Hull. And Allardyce reckons it’s thanks to help of attacking coach Teddy Sheringham, who spent seven seasons at White Hart Lane across two spells.“Andy has now scored five in the last eight league games so he’s starting to become more prolific with his goalscoring ability,” he told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show. “It was a very good goalscorer’s goal against Hull City.“He followed the shot in from Enner Valencia. It was spilled by the keeper and he has got that little tap in.“It shows he’s building his awareness and, probably, the sort of stuff Teddy [Sheringham] is talking to him about is helping.”last_img read more
