Memorial is set for Connie Meairs

Both Red and Connie are members of the International Softball Congress (ISC) Hall of Fame. Carmina (Connie) Baldassarre met Red, a Wilson High and Long Beach City College grad, during World War II and they were married in 1947. When Meairs became owner- coach of the Nitehawks, Connie worked the concession stands at games to raise money for the well-known championship softball team. Connie has four siblings, brother Rocky, sisters Mary and Phyllis, and brother Charles, who is deceased. She has eight nephews and nieces and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews. center_img A memorial service for Connie Meairs, the wife of legendary Long Beach Nitehawks softball coach Red Meairs and a legend in her own right, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Midcities Baptist Church, 19391 Newland in Westminster.
